Born in 1978 in Heidelberg, Hager started sailing at the young age of six, naturally beginning with the Optimist class. He soon moved on to boats like the 420, Sprinta Sport, and the 470, which he sailed in regattas with his brother. Early on, Hager knew he wanted to turn his passion for water sports into a career. He successfully studied naval architecture and marine engineering in Kiel, focusing on yacht design.
In 2004, the superyacht magazine BOOTE EXCLUSIV was looking for an editor with a technical and nautical background—an ideal role for Martin Hager. In 2017, he took on the role of editor-in-chief for BOOTE EXCLUSIV, and in 2022, he also became the editor-in-chief of Europe's largest sailing magazine, YACHT.
Known for his engaging writing style and ability to make complex topics accessible and exciting, Hager captivates both seasoned sailors and newcomers alike. On our journey to the Bucket Regatta 2025, he will inspire you with stimulating talks and his passion for sailing.
