FAQ

Questions & Answers: Bookings

You can book a cruise on our ships through a travel agency of your trust or directly with SEA CLOUD CRUISES.

We offer you the option to reserve a cabin for three days without obligation.

Step 1

If you are interested in a cruise on one of our yachts, we will check the availability of the desired cabin or cabin category, reserve it for you and send you an offer.

Step 2

You now have time to send us the fully completed and signed travel registration form within the three-day option period. With the travel registration, you offer SEA CLOUD CRUISES the conclusion of a binding travel contract.

Step 3

You will receive a booking confirmation, a security certificate, and the deposit and balance payment invoices. The deposit of 20% of the cruise price is due within one week after receipt of the travel confirmation.

Step 4

Four weeks prior to the start of your voyage, the remaining balance of 80 % of the cruise price is due. Upon receipt of the full tour price, we will send you your travel documents with all the necessary information.

With a guaranteed cabin, you pay the lowest available price, allowing us to allocate a cabin to you. You will receive the cabin number upon embarkation on board. Only a limited number of cabins are available in this category.

Of course, you can ask us to put you on the waiting list for a cabin/cabin category that has already been allocated or for a fully booked cruise. If your desired cabin becomes available again, we will contact you as soon as possible.

Our ships, SEA CLOUD, SEA CLOUD II and SEA CLOUD SPIRIT, are equipped with double cabins. A limited number are also available for single use for a surcharge. The SEA CLOUD SPIRIT also offers two standard single cabins.

Selected cruises within our program are offered with a pre- or post-cruise program. You will find detailed information on the respective travel pages.

Questions & Answers: Arrival and departure

On request, SEA CLOUD CRUISES will be pleased to arrange the corresponding arrival and departure with Star Alliance airlines for your selected voyage with SEA CLOUD, SEA CLOUD II and SEA CLOUD SPIRIT.

ADVANTAGE OF BOOKING FLIGHTS THROUGH A TOUR OPERATOR

Tickets do not have to be issued and paid for until 4 weeks before the start of the journey and can usually be changed free of charge up to that point. You have a higher baggage allowance on most flights. In case of delays and cancellations of flights, we will take care of an alternative solution for you.

In general, we offer you the possibility to book a transfer from the airport to the ship or from the ship to the airport about 8 weeks prior to the start of your journey, regardless of whether you have booked the flight with us or on your own.

If the arrival or departure takes place by plane, the free baggage allowances of the respective airlines shall apply. If traveling by car or train, the weight of your luggage should not exceed 40 kg per person. Please mark your luggage with the luggage tags enclosed with your travel documents. Please make sure that the cabin number and name are clearly legible. You can leave the cabin number field blank when booking a guaranteed cabin.

In general, embarkation begins at 4.00 pm, and disembarkation takes place at 9.00 am. Any deviation from these times will be indicated in your cruise documents. Please note that earlier embarkation or later disembarkation is not possible, as the ship still has to be prepared.

Questions & Answers: Travel preparation

Your travel documents contain information on your ship’s course, shore excursions and, where applicable, your flight ticket. Please have your passport and travel confirmation ready for embarkation. Your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months after the end of the journey.

Under German travel law, tour operators are required to ensure the prices paid by customers for their holiday through an insolvency insurance policy. As proof of this policy, each passenger receives an insurance certificate, the so-called “Sicherungsschein”, for the price paid. The “Sicherungsschein” is an insolvency insurance voucher issued by an insurance company. If the tour operator, SEA CLOUD CRUISES, becomes insolvent, you will receive a refund for the paid price, or if they have already started the trip, the costs of the return trip will be reimbursed to you. You will receive the insurance certificate with the travel confirmation and should keep it safe.

For your own safety, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation, baggage, travel accident, travel health and travel interruption insurance. Our cruise consultants are available to help you find the best insurance for your needs.

You will receive the detailed entry requirements for the respective trip according to your nationality at the time of booking.

You will receive information on the vaccination requirements for the respective journey at the time of booking.

Questions & Answers: Life on board

The on-board languages are German and English. Daily programs, menus and announcements will be provided in both languages. For our shore excursions, we always try to organize German and/or English-speaking guides.

Onboard program

On a real sailing yacht, the main focus is, of course, on sailing and sailing maneuvers. On selected voyages, experts on special subjects are on board. Artists, e.g., young international talents from the Steinway Prizewinner Concerts Network or the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg (HfMT), also complement the onboard program on individual voyages. In the Lido Bar, a pianist will entertain you at the evening cocktail hour or for an “after dinner” drink. General information on the next day’s events and shore excursions are prepared by the Cruise Director in the daily program, which is placed in your cabin every evening.

Library

You can also borrow German and English language books, popular board games and DVDs (SEA CLOUD II only). Please return the items after use.

Boutique

The boutique on our yachts offers accessories, clothes and gifts. The boutique’s opening times vary depending on the ship’s laytime. You will find the exact opening hours in the daily program and on the displays. You can also contact the reception desk with questions or requests outside of opening hours.

Wellness & Spa

For your personal comfort and well-being on board, we offer massages and beauty treatments for an additional fee onboard SEA CLOUD II. There is also a sauna on the cabin deck, which is heated upon request. Please contact the reception.

On the cabin deck of the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT you will find the wellness and spa area with two treatment rooms, Finnish sauna, steam bath, relaxation room and multi-sensory shower. For your personal well-being, massages and cosmetics are offered at an additional charge. An overview of the available treatments can be found in the spa brochure, which is provided in your cabin. Please book your appointments at the reception desk.

Fitness

On the SEA CLOUD II, you will find a fitness room on the cabin deck. The fitness studio is open for you during the day and is equipped with a step machine, a bike, a treadmill and a rowing machine.

The fitness area of the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT is located on the sun deck. It is open for you during the day and is equipped with modern cardio equipment and weights.

Water Sports & Swimming

The gangway (SEA CLOUD) or the swim platform (SEA CLOUD II & SEA CLOUD SPIRIT) are starting points for various water sports activities as well as bathing from the ship.

On board, the SEA CLOUDs offer snorkeling equipment available in different sizes, which can be used free of charge depending on the weather conditions and with the permission of the Captain. We also offer stand-up paddles for beach landings and a towable tube from the gangway (SEA CLOUD II & SEA CLOUD SPIRIT).

You can volunteer to set the sails, such as helping with the hauling of lines during the bracing of the yards and during the setting of sails. Also, volunteers will help haul down bunt lines during the dousing of sails and later coiling the lines.

During the day, guests enjoy wearing summery, clean casual styles. For the evening, we recommend a smart/dressy casual outfit. Please refrain from wearing swimwear during lunch and/or shorts at dinner. The Captain’s Dinner, an event which normally takes place twice on each trip (once on short cruises), is a time when our guests opt for more elegant/cocktail attire: a suit or ensemble for the gentleman and complementary dress/outfit for the lady. We also advise that non-slip footwear, which provides grip on the spacious teak decks, be a part of your luggage.

A breakfast with pastries and fruits is offered to early and late risers onboard the SEA CLOUDs. On the SEA CLOUD, this takes place on the Panorama Deck (early risers) or the Lido Deck (late risers). On board the SEA CLOUD II and the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT, a small breakfast is available at the Lido Bar. The grand breakfast buffet is provided in the restaurant. Lunch is served as a buffet on the lido deck or in the restaurant. In the afternoon, coffee and tea are served, accompanied by some sweet treats and sandwiches. Dinner is a four-course menu with choices available, as well as a vegetarian option. Our executive chef will prepare an exclusive five-course menu for the gala dinner. The Bistro on the lido deck offers a flexible and casual alternative to dinner in the restaurant (SEA CLOUD SPIRIT only). A late-night snack nicely rounds off the evening’s culinary delights.

Meals are served on our ships in one sitting with free seating. Service times can be found in the daily program on board. Please kindly note that reservations are not possible. As an alternative to fine dining in the restaurant, you can enjoy your dinner casually and flexibly in the bistro on the lido deck (SEA CLOUD SPIRIT only).

We maintain the tradition that at the beginning and towards the end of a voyage, the captain invites you to a Captain’s Cocktail, followed by a (Captain’s) Gala Dinner in the restaurant. For this occasion, we recommend a suit or ensemble for the gentleman and an appropriate dress/outfit for the lady.

Laundry services available on board are limited to washing and ironing. There is no dry cleaning available. You will find a price list for the overnight laundry and ironing service in your closet. For guests who have booked a cabin of category A-C (SEA CLOUD) or cat. A+B (SEA CLOUD II & SEA CLOUD SPIRIT); the laundry service is already included in the cruise price. For safety reasons, passengers are not permitted to iron in their cabins.

Smoking is permitted only on the lido deck outside of meal times. We kindly request that smokers take the comfort of other passengers into consideration. Smoking is prohibited on covered areas of the lido deck at all times; on covered areas of the spanker deck (SEA CLOUD); on the blue lagoon deck (SEA CLOUD II); on the sun deck and on the cabin balconies at all times (SEA CLOUD SPIRIT).

Personal expenditures on board, such as drinks at the bar, telephone/internet costs, laundry and shoe service, beauty and wellness treatments, shore excursions (unless otherwise advertised), and boutique purchases, are not included in the cruise-only rate.

The currency on board is the EURO (€). To simplify the onboard accounting, we have set up a cabin account for your stay onboard. Your personal expenses will be charged to your personal shipboard account, which will be settled at the end of the cruise. We accept all major credit cards (MasterCard, VISA Card, American Express and Diners Card), German debit cards, traveler’s checks and cash (US$ and EURO).

We only carry US$ and Euro on board. Currency exchange from Euro to US$ and vice versa is available at any time. Please get in touch with the purser or the reception desk in this matter. Other foreign currencies, e.g. for shore excursions, must be exchanged in the destination countries or at home before your cruise. In addition, we recommend obtaining small bills in the local currency prior to your voyage.

Tips are already included in the cruise-only rate on all ships.
